The Institute of Criminal Justice Studies is one of the largest criminology departments in the UK with an established presence in Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral education, complemented by a successful applied criminology research profile. Within the subject area, the Institute is ranked 4th place nationally in the 2019 Guardian Course Guide and the University has been awarded Gold within the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Our highly successful innovative course provision requires an established academic presence in police leadership for our postgraduate e-learning provision, and a wider contribution to our increasingly globalised curriculum in a post-Brexit context.
