We wish to appoint a highly motivated individual to work as part of the professional services team in the highly regarded Department of History which is ranked 6th in the UK. This is a part-time, temporary position until 10 January 2020, starting as soon as possible.
This job role follows a ‘job share with prime responsibilities’ type model. In the first instance, you will provide proactive administrative support for the organising of the Department’s conferences/events, the promotion of these events, and also the general administrative function of the Department. You will also provide cover for the undergraduate admissions recruitment and conversion activities of the Department, ideally including social media/website (i.e. that imminent enquiries/tasks/attendance at meetings etc. are covered by both colleagues in the other’s absence/non-working days).
You will have excellent inter-personal, communication and IT skills, experience of organising events, organising and minuting meetings and be an advocate of customer care. It is essential that you are able to manage a busy and varied administrative workload and work effectively under your own initiative and as part of a team.
Previous work experience with utilising various marketing channels, including social media/website (via a contents managements system), for promotional purposes would be desirable.
The job role is part-time at 0.5fte/18.25 hrs a week; ideal hours of work would be Tuesdays and Thursdays (all day) and Friday afternoon enabling a one-hour cross over between the two complementary post holders on Fridays (although the precise working pattern on a Friday could be discussed at interview).
Applicants applying as a secondment should seek approval from their line manager before applying.
If you would like further information and an opportunity to discuss the role, please contact Professor Ian Gregory, the Head of Department on firstname.lastname@example.org or Dawn McCracken, the Departmental Officer on email@example.com.
